I've got a 95 850 Wagon with the auto trans. The problem I've been having is with a switch that activates the reverse lights as well as controls the start-disable feature that is present when the car is out of park or neutral.
The problem is this... when in reverse, the reverse lights do not go on at *all* unless I hold the shifter against the end of the reverse gate (meaning toward the rear of the car). Then the light comes on (usually... sometimes it doesn't). Also, my wife had a problem starting it one day (calling me at work in panic mode) and it turned out that sliding it in and out of park cured it.
I cannot find mention or the location of this switch anywhere in the Haynes manual that I have. I've had the console apart, and I see no visible switch that controls these lights or the start-disable feature. And, I can't seem to figure out how to open the black casing surrounding the shifter to see what's in there.
Anyone experience this and solve it? Any other ideas?
Thanks,
--Dave
