Okay. I am very nervous about changing the timing belt myself. But I really don't want to spend $700 at the Volvo dealership either. I do have several questions:
1) Do I need the cam locking tool?
I have read several places that it may make the job easire but it isnt needed. Is this true? Several places say that it is pretty hard to knock the cams out of place, so I am thinking I can be careful and be in good shape.
2) Should I cut the old belt off? I have also read that getting the old belt off is much harder than getting the new belt on.
3) Do I need to line up all the marking before or after removing or cutting the old belt?
4)Do I need to take the crank pully off? Some places say there is no need to worry about the cam holder b/c you do not have to remove the crank pulley...no need to break that bolt loose.
5)What are the things that I must make sure to get right, so I don't mess something up?
6)How long should this take?
7) I have the VADIS CD....are the steps pretty accurate in this repair manual?
8)Anything I should look for as a a barometer that I am doing it correctly?
Thanks ahead...btw...planning on doing this tomorrow!!
