To clear codes you must access the onboard diagnostic system. I bought a cheap code reader that plugs into a laptop with a program installed from a DVD. It will clear codes and replace the dashboard. Many autoparts and repair shops will read/clear the codes for free. That might be easiest.

The S60 is not kind to the novice do it yourselfer. Follow the instructions for changing the belt with exquisite care. There is little margin for error that translates into expensive repairs. You should be fine if you do your homework.
