If I understand what you did I want to caution you against leaving things that way. The wiring is only meant to handle a certain amperage and those light bulbs are a pretty heavy draw - thus the reason they have their own fuse circuits. You're asking for trouble having all the current for both lights going through the same wire IMHO.
