When you close the door, does the window rattle? Good chance the rear guide has rusted and fallen off, a common problem. After getting the door panel off, you will probably find the bottom of the guide on the bottom of the door.

If you have the kind with a rivit, it can be drilled out and replaced with a bolt/nut. Usually it is rusted beyond repair. Not very expensive, even at a dealer.
