I too have a 1999 S80. I had check engine problems the first year and other misc computer problems like cruise control not working and other warning messages appearing on start up. Each time they were corrected by turning the vehicle off and waiting a few seconds. On restart the problems went away. I haven't had these types of computer related problems since the first few months. Either they went away by themselves or my dealer installed a computer software upgrade without telling me. Don't be afraid to tell your dealer about the problems, you might just need a simple software upgrade.
