Rear tailgate trim rusty V70-XC70 1998

I took a quick look at my 'new' car last night and found that the trim piece below the window and above the metal part of the tailgate is rusty and is in need of replacement. The black trim looks to be metal and rubber covered.

Has anyone removed/replaced this piece? I am going to the dealer for a new "J" hose next week and wonder if I should buy/order that piece. Or will the window fall out if I remove it????
