Don't know what the PO was running in it...however I Seafoamed the car, drove 300 mi, and then got it changed at the Volvo dealer with Mobil 1 synthetic.

Didn't really notice the ticking until the Seafoam/oil change. But I also think it was sitting at the dealership for about 3-4 weeks outside with minimal driving. After the oil change it hasn't lost a drop as far as I can tell - I keep it in a garage and no noticeable oil stains.
