Do you have a 4 speed or a 5 speed tranny? Is there any atf on the cold dipstick?
You could have someone start the car for you after pulling off the top cooler line from the radiator. Have a small bucket or ? to catch any tranny fluid. If none comes out, you have a problem. The pump is supposed to run whenever the engine is running.
The 'filter' is internal to the tranny and is not supposed to be replaced, DIY will be a lot of work to get to it.
Forget the PNP switch, but check the linkage at the tranny itself. Loose wires?
