The 'R' is a special breed and has a special site: www.v70r.com
I used to go there a lot with my 1998, good folks. Seems to have fallen short of fans for some reason. You could register there and ask for the proper rotor thickness.
Your new pads will be harder than the OEM pads and wear the rotor faster, that will require watching. The rule of thumb with OEM pads was to replace the rotor every other pad change.
Off topic? My brother-in-law used to take a pair of pliers and break off the lip, then file down the rough spots. His Chevy pick up didn't mind! Not my cars.
