1997 R engine replaced by 98 GLT engine. Good idea or bad?

I'm FINALLY getting ready to get my 850R wagon going. I towed it to Dallas...am about to tear into the engine and found a 98 S70 GLT wrecked with an engine with only 8K miles on it. I have looked up all the information I can find and from what I can tell the only difference in the engines is the higher pressure turbo, ECM and maybe the intake. I am going to have to replace at LEAST 8 valves in my motor as well as the entire PCV system, gaskets, etc. I'm sure the wiring is different on the 98 but I'm not really worried about that. If this were to ever be a collector car, I would worry about the correct numbers, etc. I don't ever plan on it being...so the new engine seems to make sense to me.
Thoughts? Ideas???
