Well, if you had an 850 I would say it's the compressor cycling on and off, the tick-tick sound coming from a relay behind the glovebox. But I'm not sure that applies to your car. It's usually indicative of the car being low on refrigerant (the dreaded 850 evap leak issue), although I'm in the process of replacing the relay because I am not low on refrigerant and I am determined to get to the bottom of my own tick-tock issues.
But you could have your refrigerant level checked, that's a good place to start.
