Replacing Visors 850 1995

The visors in my 1995 850 GLT were horrible (a previous owner actually wrote phone numbers directly on them), so I bought a great set used which appear to be from a 97 or perhaps a 98 S70.

The new ones have intact wiring, including the plug.

Problems:

1) How in the world can the old wiring be removed down to the plug? I undid the driver's side dash and removed the lower kickboard under the steering wheel, neither provided access to the very end of the wire that visor is connected to. It disappears down a hole and I can't figure out how to access it.

2) The newer visor's wiring doesn't seem quite as long, not sure if the new plug will reach all the way down there.

Haven't attempted the passenger side yet, still baffled by the driver's side.

Yes, I could splice the wiring and make this easier, but I was trying to do it the right way.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
