Starting Problems -- Again S60 2001

Just wondering if it could be the immobilizer ring behind the key portion of the switch. If that fails, the starter will not engage.
He could get some of his buddies to push, and then pop the clutch in 2nd gear (with the key on).

Borton Volvo is pretty good, if you know what the problem is. Otherwise, they will not diagnose and just throw parts at it. Have your son always ask for the old parts back, including spark plugs.
There is a Volvo indie in St.Paul that is pretty good, but I can't think of the name off hand.
