I didn't realize that the "cold" part on the transmission dipstick is actually the mark the tranny should be after you start the engine, idle it for 10 minutes and then shift into reverse, then low, 2 and drive and then back to park and then check the level. I can see where someone would think that cold meant not running for a few hours, pull the dipstick, see it looks high and then drain out 3 quarts or so of fluid. Then it would be low and start to slip "especially in cold weather" according to the manual the car came with.
