I would get an emory cloth or use a dremmel and buff the bulb contacts until they shine. Do both sides of the car. Remember to replace the bulbs on both sides, they are sold in packets of 2 anyway.

The sides of the bulb holder are not as important as the center contact. The little titts on the bulb is where ground contact is made.
