I would recommend a flush if the compressor froze like you describe it. Metal shaving etc. will likely be left in the system, and will shorten the life of the new. I believe Klaus was refering to the procedure to recharge the system in which you pull a 28mm vac on it. This helps remove moisture in the system if it had been opened up and sets up the inital fluid flow into the system to get the compressor working again.
