Just got done doing a complete timing belt job on my 225k Volvo. Water pump, camshaft seals, new idlers and tensioner. The only thing I did not do was the crankshaft seal.
Now the belt is tracking to the outside. The only thing stopping it is the inside of the vibration damper. It is a Conti belt, I have never had any trouble with them.
There is no visible misalignment of any component (like you can really see in there!). The only suspect is the idle pulley that goes with the tensioner. It would not pivot when I torqued the bolt down. I replaced the bushing with the old one which was slightly longer (maybe 0.005"). The length increase was enough to allow it to pivot freely.
Any experience or help with this problem would be greatly appreciate.
