I've been chasing the common P0422 code for a while now. First I replaced both O2 sensors with Volvo OEM ones. The code kept popping up and then clearing itself. I then went for having my cat rebuilt. Still the same problem. Oh well.
Now it's either vacuum leaks or something to do with one of the O2 sensors.
If it's vacuum leaks, are there any handy pics on where to look and which hose(s) to replace.
I did notice on my OBDII scanner that O2 Sensor 1 bank 1 reads "N/A" while O2 Sensor 2 bank 1 reads "0.445v". Is this normal? Shouldn't I see voltages from both these sensors? If I need to check the sensors, how do I measure the voltage? Is there a convenient terminal to do so or do I need to remove some insulation from the wires? If so, are the wires color coded so I know which one to check?
ps. We do a lot of city driving and the car only has just over 105K. Could it be carbon build up?
Thanks,
RGW
