I removed the front control arms on my '94 850 wagon to have the bushings replaced (control arms are the aluminum ones with replaceable BJs). They came out easy enough, but it seems like the inner end of the axle slipped out of the inner CV joint. How do I shove the whole hub/axle assembly back in so I can get the refurbished control arms back on? I tried to push it back in but it seems very diffcult. I am having the bushings done at a machine shop tomorrow, but I am thinking now I am going to have a heck of a time lining up the hub to re-install. Any tricks on doing this? If I pull the axle end out of the inner CV joint, attach the control arms and then work it back in would that be easier, or just more work? It is too late to loosen the nut holding the hub to the outer end of the axle, as I have the control arms off and cant get leverage to loosen that nut - I know they are always on thighter than a mofo.
I would greatly appreciate any help! Of course, I need to get this thing put back together tomorrow!
