I must admit I did not pay attention to cost when I have had this done in an identical car. I think I would have noticed had it cost me $400!

I had been getting a Trans Service Required message and thought I was in trouble. My independent mech, good in every other way, had used regular Volvo trans fluid, not the special fluid required for an 01 T5. When the right fluid was put in, message went away.

I have been tracking discussion of change interval and gather that the recommended interval is too long. The transmission in that car is vulnerable, and the longer you let it go, it seems the more likely it will fail. I believe mine has been flushed at least twice.

Have you had your trans software updated to remove stop neutral? That also is recommended as a way to keep the trans going as long as possible (my car is 113K just the same as yours :)) I have to say I like the feel better also with stop neutral gone.

FWIW, my car is running great--feels great to drive and looks terrific.. Owned it since new. Still tempted to chip it one day .
