2001 V70T5 Transmission(auto) fluid change intervals? V70-XC70 2001

You should consider adding a Magnefine filter in the rubber cooler line to the radiator. It will remove the magnetic wear particles and is a fine particle filter too. IPDusa.com sells them. Others have them too so google it. You need the 3/8 inch size. I use this filter in the power steering return line too. Mind the flow direction in both applications.
If you need convincing, dangle a small magnet in the P/S reservior for a bit and see what it collects. I tied one with nylon cord, dangling from the cap spring, some years ago and became a believer.
I also disassembled a filter removed from the tranny line and found lots of black metal dust trapped on the magnet inside.
BTW, I would also change my fluid by 100K mi. The "lifetime" fluid story is a myth. The filter will not restore burned fluid. Were I you, and planning on keeping the car, I would do both. The fluid is also sold by IPD and others if it is the special Mobil fluid. I use Dextron equivalent Mobil 1 ATF or Amsiol ATF in my S80. It's a simple DIY project. Don't even have to raise the car. Also an ideal time to install a filter.
