AS stated here you'll be hard pressed to read any codes for your Volvo beyond engine, transmission and emission codes. Still, these are the main ones you should be concerned with in regards to safety and pricey repairs. The other stuff, like the seat electronics, the climate control, etc. (except SRS- airbags) is something really left to the dealer. To scan the codes and diagnose them for the engine/tranny/emissions (those that may keep your car from starting or may leave you stranded) I suggest buying a Code reader from Equus Innova that will read OBD-II and CAN since newer Volvo's have CAN-bus.
