check engine light S70 2000

Is this true for an '01 S60 2.4T?
I also have CE light and a message saying "Emission system service required".
I reset the gas cap but cannot say it was loose.
Where is the OBD connector in this car? I cannot find it and doubt that Auto Zone knows either.
The book is no help.
Will disconnecting the battery for a few minutes clear the code(s)?

As a test, how about I remove the gas cap with the engine running, replace it and shut off.
Then I see if I get another message or not when I restart.
If I do then the original trouble is not the gas cap.
If no new message, then the original trouble was the cap.
Both codes can be cleared at once.
