I had the same thing happen the other day with mine. Seems that some codes are specific to when the engine is running...at least that's what I have concluded. Hook up your scan tool again, turn it on, then crank your car so it's running. Now try checking the codes again. Hopefully this time, you'll be able to read them and not get the error code.
