Help. Cannot get rear rotor off V70-XC70 1998

I am trying to inspect my non-functioning parking brakes... suspect lots of rust, etc.
My rear calipers look like V40s, took everything off. After taking out the holding pin/guide pin, I managed to break loose the rotor, but It won't come off. I suspect the brake shoes are pressing against the lip. Is there a way to get the rotor off? The hand brake feels loose for the first 4 inches, like the cable won't move back to the off position.
These brakes do not have a visible star wheel for adjustment, like the 850s.
