I researched about 160 threads on this board related to front end noise, and some have some of my symptoms but none are a good enough match...here are the details.
I recently started hearing a humming noise on the front end, with the following 'particularities':
Almost constant noise that starts at low speeds(30mph).
It is louder at some speeds(don't say it is the bearing yet...keep reading).
It is easier to hear it when decelerating. For example getting off the highway when the speed goes from 65 mph gradually down to almost zero. However, it doesn't change when applying the brakes.
It doesn't really change under load (when turning)....well, just a little bit but not enough to say it is the bearing.
The mechanic checked the berings with the car on the lift and said they look good.
You can't hear it with the windows down. Wind noise is louder than this noise.
Hear a very light grinding-like sound on slow turns at very low speeds (under 20 mph).
I recently changed brake pads, but the noise doesn't change when I apply the brakes.
I recently changed both ball joints and outer tie rods, and also the driver's side inner rod.
Lastly, I will mention that when the car was on the lift I saw that the inside of the rear right rim is bent (outside is perfect...can't explain how it happened), but the noise is coming from the front and definetly not from the rear wheel.
At this point I'm clueless....any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
