Click in driver door S80 2001

My 2001 S80 an intermitant clicking that seems to be connected to the power window / door lock / mirrow adjustment panel on the dirver side armrest. Occasionally, when I open the door I will hear a rapid clicking associated with the power window / lock panel. When I turn on the engine, the clicking continues and the light in the buttons flashes. While clicking, the window buttons don't work. Evenutally, the clicking stops and the buttons come back to life. Has anyone had this experience? Is it the buttons or the power source to the buttons? Any ideas?
