left cv boot replacement 850 1995

got off the axle. Got really pissed and took a sledge hammer to it. Took about 8 full swings after spraying the hell out of it with pb. The axle end is now mushroom shaped so the nut won't fit. Thinking about either grinding it or just getting a rebuild for the left half shaft. This car has over 130,000 and continues to breakdown. Thanks for help
