Hot key cylinder 850 1995

Strange. Just picked up my daughter's 850T and drove it for 30min. When I pulled into the garage, I pulled out the key and gave it to her. She dropped it!! It was that hot! I touched the key hole and got a 1st degree burn.
Anybody have a clue? I am going to remove the clamshell around the steering wheel and get a better look.
