Hitch brake module V70-XC70 2001

I have a 2001 v70 that I installed a hitch onto, I bought the volvo wiring kit and had to return it since it is not very relevant to north american type hitches(7pin round with no charge or brake provisions). Volvo recommends electric brakes which I have on my trailer, I have a Reese brake module which I want to install in the trunk since I have no need to regularly adjust it and all wires are available in the back. Traditionally the signal for the module comes from the switch on the brake pedal, has anyone installed one in the back and if so where did you get the signal from. Using the signal from the brake bulb seems to cause interferance to the system.
