trip computer clock V70-XC70 1999

changed spark plugs and fuel filter yesterday and looked at trailer wiring harness connector under back left rear seat panel.disconnected that end unit off the cable, looked at the connector and then replaced the end unit. I guess it provided electrical continutity if you don't have trailer wiring harness installed. When looked at the clock in the trip info center it had reset to 12:00. everything else ok. have noticed this when it comes back from dealer but the battery shows no indication of ever having been disconnected.
any clues as to why clock resets?
