I suggest 205/55 or 195/60 for stock rims which are not offset
because since the tire gets wider you want to go with a lower profile
which will prevent rubbing on the sidewall with lock to lock turning
which will get annoying if they do rub.
As for shocks/struts I personally have the monroe sensatrack and am enjoying it.
Its a good balance between OE and racing struts/shocks(bilstein)and keeps the wheels firm on the road while giving you a comfortable ride.
This is important because it not only gives you better handling
but also reduces brake stopping time which is a big plus in itself
because it enhances your safety which is the main reason (not the only)you
buy a volvo .
