Background; This is the same code I received 3 weeks ago after buying the car, the service place here in town had the car for a day did checks on the converter but said it was operating within parameters. So they reset the code, drove the car around for about 50 miles and couldn't get it to come back on. I get the car back, go get gas, let the car sit for an hour and drice it that evening only to get the dreaded light again...Interesting so far? No noticable effect on the driving and the code was again 4-4-3...So, I drive the car for about 200 miles the next day, get home, check the code...1-1-1. The code was reset and no fault was showing. I call a guy at IPD and he says it's possible that since the code did not appear during the long drive, the car may have reset itself due to the mileage driven wince the fault. No problem. I, for some reason, begin using less expensive gas (not the cheap stuff but no longer the expensive stuff either)...until now.
After filling up with gas 2 days ago, and 200 miles since the fillup and whamo...check engine light again tonight...4-4-3 is the number that fault code I get from the diagnostic check - Catalytic Converter problem.
Could there be any relation between the grade of petrol and this fault code? Or, am I trying to see a pattern here where none exists?
