Fuel gauge wrong V70-XC70 2001

My fuel gauge shows full tank until the tank is half-empty. After that the reading is correct. At the same time, the computer shows correct miles to empty tank all the time. To me, this rules out faulty gas level sensor.

Another symptom: if the car is standing in a slope nose up, the reading seems to be correct even with almost full tank.

Any ideas how to fix this?
