Just thought I'd inquire if other V70 owners have had a similar experience.
We have a 2000 V70 with automatic transmission. Last week with just over 100,000 miles on the car the transmission without much warning lunched itself. We have owned the car since it was new and had the transmission fluid serviced by our Volvo dealer at about 60,000 when we noticed the transmission shifted hard between gears. Changing the fluid smoothed out the hard shifts and all seemed well until last week.
The dealer quoted $3900 USD for a replacement transmission. I was able to locate a used transmission at a salvage yard for $600 plus shipping and it looks like 10.5 hours labor to do the swap. By the time I'm done I figure it will cost me close to $1500 USD.
Needless to say I'm very disappointed in the reliablilty of this car and only hope that for some reason my faulty transmission is an outlier. I would be
