Smoking Air Conditioner S80 1999

We just had one of our family members stranded at night in their S80 due to a smoking airconditioner. She was in the middle of no-where and had to be towed to the nearest Volvo dealer in Pleasanton CA. There she had to rent a room and rental car to get home. The dealer had it for a week while they ordered the replacement part. Upon getting the part, they said they ordered the incorrect part. She gave up with them and returned the car to her local dealer (which resently sold their Volvo dealership to a Lincoln dealership...and never notified their customers).

I think at this point the only thing keeping us with Volvo is their Safety Engineering...and that margin is getting thiner all the time.

Anyone have this same problem with their S80's?
