As it has been posted several times in the past, the new T5's run harder and faster when fed a steady diet of high octane fuel. Until recently, the three grades commonly available in California were 87, 89, and 92.
When filling up my car yesterday, I was pleased when I compared the price I was paying for my usual 92 ($2.09/gal) to the posted price across the street ($2.16/gal). That was until I noticed that the fuel I was pumping was 91 octane! This is the same station I had been going to for almost a year because their 92 was always a few cents cheaper than the competition's. I then checked out the local AM/PM. Sure enough, they had switched from 92 to 91 as well!
So be aware, check the octane rating at the pump as it appears that several gasoline distributors and/or retailers (at least in CA) are trying to pull a fast one on unsuspecting (or uncaring) motorists.
