Hello All,
I have a 1999 XC with just over 94,000 miles on it. The engine has never overheated and the coolant gets flushed every fall. The head gasket has developed a small leak that is spraying coolant into the clynder. This has caused the "Check Engine" light to come on. My independent Volvo mechanic has confirmed this diagnosis. He also mentioned that he recently had another XC that was a few years newer than mine, with far less mileage that had the exact same problem. He doesn't recall if it was the same cylinder as mine.
This will be an expensive repair: close to $1,800. My questions to all are: Are 1999 XCs known to have problems with leaking head gaskets? If yes, did Volvo every offer to do anything to help reimburse the cost of this repair?
Thanks to all who respond.
Hugh
