I am in the process of buying a certified pre-owned Volvo X70 AWD from a dealer. I had it checked out by my mechanic (who does not specialize in Volvos) and he told me there was a leak to one of the seals to the transmission that faces front, he said I should have them fix it. I asked them to fix it and they said it wasn't a big enough leak to fix it. Apparently it's just some wetness - sweating - as the dealer mechanic called it. He said if it gets any worse I could bring it in to fix it under warranty but I said why not fix it now? He said because Volvo wouldn't fix a problem that was so small. He suggested I get a quote on the repair from a transmission shop and he'll take it off the negotiated price. Does this sound like a fair resolution to you, or should I look elsewhere? The problem is that it's the color and has the options my wife wants (third row seat) so finding a similar car will take some searching...and time. If I can get this seal fixed should I just go for it or is a faulty seal a bad sign on a 4 year old car?
