Hi,
I'm looking for a first car for my daughter, and right now I'm considering a 2000 S40 with approx 100,000 miles on it. It seems to be in good shape, but I've read a lot of negative reviews on that model, and I'm wondering if this would be a bad decision. It seems that the majority of the negative reviews were written shortly after the 2000 came out, and I've also noticed that Consumer Reports removed it from their list of cars to avoid - in effect upgrading its problem index ranking, so I'm wondering if maybe the electrical problems, etc, have been resolved through recalls.
Any thoughts? Any suggestions for other models?
Thanks
