Instrument Cluster Bulbs 850 1994

I am about to change my instrument cluster bulbs for most of them are burned out or just not lighting, I'm having a hard time driving at night. What kinds of bulbs to I need. If I go to a local pepboys I am sure they dont what Im talking about if I give them the part number. I know I need a couple of 3Watts and 1.2Watts but is there a specific type for these bulbs, what's it called? I just dont want to take out my instrument cluster then realizing I have to run again to the store cuz I got a wrong type of bulb. Did anyone have this same problem? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I got a shift indicator bulb from Advance Auto Parts, and it was wrong.
So drove to Dealer and paid thru nose for the correct one.
Got several so I won't have to do the job twice when one goes out again.

Pepboys will know what the bulbs look like. It is in their book. The 3W bulbs look just like the kind they use in outdoor lighting around houses. A dealer will add a zero to the pepboys price.

After you have replaced all the blubs, set the intensity of the dash lighting to about the half way point. This will give you a much longer life with your new bulbs.....

    Follow "volvocrazed"s advice.

The instrument panel isn't very difficult to remove, but you wouldn't want to do it too often. Take particular note of the part (at the Volsospeed site) that cautions you to place rags or padding at the top of the dashboard face as you remove the instrument cluster... if you scratch or damage the cluster, you'll have to live with it for the rest of the car's life.

Replace ALL the bulbs at the same time. If you aren't sure as to the voltages and quantities, go to a Volvo dealer for the parts list. For a few dollars difference (when compared to the "best price" you can find for the bulbs), you'll save yourself future headaches. You're absolutely correct that you don't want to have the dash apart, and then find out that you don't have enough bulbs.

    Good luck

If you want to be sure to get it right the first time, you can order them from ipdusa.com, but you'll pay a bit more. At least some of the bulbs are standard though, I found them at Walmart...
Plan on replacing ALL the bulbs while you are in there. As you may know, Bay13 at http://www.volvospeed.com has nice instructions on removing the instrument cluster.
