Bad thermostat?? S70 1998

1998 S70 5 cyl. 86k miles.

It takes forever for the car to warm up, what could it be? Is the thermostat difficult to replace? Is there detailed instructions online somewhere?

Thanks!!

It is a 10-minute job S70 1998

Here is the link:

But take the opportunity to :

1. Change coolant as well. The drain cock for the radiator is at the bottom of the radiator. Use a allen key to drain it.

2. I bought thermostat from FCP Groton for $14.00
The rubber O-ring is all you need (NO need for thermostat housing gasket).

cn

PS: Personally I'd not change the temp sensor as this item lasts a long time.

It is a simple job. While you are at it, you may want to go ahead and replace the coolant temp sensor which is on the t-stat housing. I did mine on 98 t5 at
52K. Go to volvospeed.com and look under "maintenance and repair".
