Trade up to the next generation S40? S40-V40 2001

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if any existing S/V40 owners are planning to trade in for the new S40? If so, are you going for 2.4i or the 2.4T5? AWD?

    No more Fords for me.

The breaking issue is too much for me to buy another one, ever.

There is so much rattling on this car, I asked if it would be fixed under warranty and the dealer said that Volvos rattle and rattles are not covered under warranty.

Why would anyone want a car that rattles so much less than a year off the line?

If I bought a car at an S80 price would it be much better.

Ford is also the company that made a Jag into a Taurus.

      Don't blame Ford. S40-V40 2001

      Cello,

Totally a Volvo creation using a Mitsubishi Carisma platform.

The next generation S-40 will use Ford's global platform that also will appear under the Focus and Mazda 3. The auto press seems impressed.

I agree with the others that it's best to avoid to first year of ANY make.

      Bryan

FYI- the December issue of Car magazine has some excellent detailed info and pictures of the upcoming new S40.

New model is coming out what, this coming spring? I never buy from the first model year so the bugs can be worked out. That would be early 2005 before I'd consider a new S40. I'd be going for the "R" if available.
