strange coolant/heater problem s70

a few weeks ago one of the hoses to the heater core ruptured and lost all coolant fixed that problem and then found out the coolant pump needed to be replaced (murphy's law i had the timing belt done 2 months ago)

after new pump is installed flushed cooling system now here is the problem whenever the heater is turned on in the car the coolant level rises and overflows the resivoir i have changed thermostat and resovoir cap to no avail

can someone please tell me what is going on

temp gauge always at 3oclock

Unfortunately your present symptoms usually mean that your cylinder head is warped/headgasket related problem. I'd assume that the engine was previously driven without enough coolant thus overheated? Seen this happen many times.

It can be properly diagnosed by using a device called a "block tester" that has a liquid that changes color when CO is detected in the cooling system. If so, it's not a cheap fix as the cyl head must be removed and sent to a machine shop to be straightened, machined.

thanks frank any chance one of those cooling system snake oils would fix the problem?
