My garage tells me my right side motor mount is shot, and that Volvo has redesigned the part(s) involved. He is quoting me around $300 for the parts, plus about an hour in labor. I've seen motor mounts on the parts sites on the web for about $100. Are those the old version? Is this the difference between buying parts from Volvo and buying them from the web?

Now a short rant - It seems typical for Volvo to discover that their engineering was lacking enough that a part needs to be redesigned, but not to pay for the repair out of warranty.

I just bought the motor mount from dealer (Boston Volvo) with the net price of about $81.00. I am going to do it myself.

I just did that repair. Dealer quoted over 250 parts and labor.
My independent mechanic did it for 148. Part was 85 bucks and labor was 60. Independent volvo shop did it in under 25 mins while I watched......

myvolvoparts.com has the right mount for $82. They are a Volvo dealer so it would be unlikely that they would sell you an outdated part. And then do like lbgunnels said. Grab the Bay 13 instructions or a Haynes manual and save yourself $300+ and learn about your car.

Directions for this are on Bay 13. Buy the part, set aside a couple of hours on Saturday morning, and enjoy the pleasure of doing it yourself and getting some grease under your nails, while not paying anything for the labor. All you need is a jack stand, a jack, and a socket set. Enjoy.

I just had mine replaced last Friday for $184.00 parts and labor at my Volvo dealership.

$300 just for the part???? sounds like someone like big margins. I'll sell you that mount for $105.60 +tax. and free shipping.

I'm facing the same repair, quoted about 180.00 parts and labor. IPD sells the motor mounts for about 100.00 or so. My quote was from a independant Volvo shop. The 300 sounds a bit high.
