New transmission? 850

When the car is cold, no problem going from stop into accelerate. But once it warms up, must rev very high before it leaps forward. No problem in any of the other gears - warm or cold. I've read so much here about PNP, 02 sensors, transmission flush. Trying to avoid $2300 rebuild and would like to be more prepared when I take it for a second opinion.
Thanks for your help.

I have had a similar phenomena occur with my 1995 850 GLT. Still have not been able to pinpoint the problem. Have had it to my local Indy trans shop that I trust and he can't get it to occur for him. As soon as I take it home of course it happens. Same deal, after warm up, from a stop position (red light) it will rev up and then let go with a lurch. No codes have been retrieved from the trans socket. I have changed the ATF twice in less than a year. Sorry this is not much help but more of venting on my part. Have you tried to retrieve any codes yet from the diagnostic unit? If your car is 1995 or earlier you can do this yourself. Good Luck and keep me informed if you discover anything new.

Hi. What year, and mileage do you have. What is the status of the trans fluid?
Do you do any pulling with the car? Do you live in a warm/hot environment? If you are unable to get some answers, try Volvospeed.com for some info.

It's a 94 turbo with 117K miles. I don't know the stats of the trans fluid - that's the first thing I'll check. I live in NYC, so no real extremes of temperature. Not sure what you mean by pulling - like on acceleration? If so, then no problems there. Also, no codes coming up either. Will take a look at volvospeed.com.
