Amber 'Service' dash light on my '94 850 850

Anybody know how/where to turn off this annoying light? I just got an oil change/fluid fill, but the mechanics at Meineke couldn't figure out whrere to trip the switch. Told me I had to go to Volvo to get it reset. True?

If you have a 1994 850, you can reset the service reminder light yourself, without tools. If you have a Haynes manual for the 850, look at page 12-5. If not follow the following procedure:
Locate the diagnostic modules (A & B) next to the windshield washer fill tube on the passenger side, under the hood. There is a test lead connected to module A. Remove the cover to module A and locate the test lead. The modules are marked.
1. Switch on the ignition, insert the test lead of the diagnostic module into socket 7 of module A, and press the test button on the diagnostic unit four times, briefly but firmly. When the LED illuminates and stays illuminated, the system is ready for manual code input.
2. It is now necessary to enter the code for resetting the service interval counter, which is 1-5-1. To do this, press the test button once and release it; wait for the LED to illuminate again, then press the test button five times. When the LED illuminates again, press the test button once. When the LED flashes sever times in succession, the code has been successfully entered and the service interval counter should have been reset. Switch off the ignition to exit the manual input mode, replace the test lead in its holder and install the diagnostic unit covers.
3. Switch on the ignition again and check that the service reminder light does not illuminate, if it does repeat the procedure.

True.

The dealer here charges $75 for an oil change. I think $50 of that is to reset the light. The service port is in the center console underneath the coin holder thing.
You can either ignore the light, take the bulb out, cover it with tape, pay the dealer or buy a service light reset tool.
