Crank but no start 850

Back from a six weeks trip, my '97 850 will crank but not start.

The first thing I did is to listen if the fuel pump primes at turn on, I can hear it. Just in case, I swapped my fuel pump relay (#103) with wife's car. No success in mine but my relay works fine in her car.

The 2nd thing I did is to spray some starting fluid into the intake hose. The engine rumbled a bit but failed to completely start. The ignition system, i,e: plugs, distributor cap, wires, coil & cam position sensor seems OK.

3rd: There's absolutely no fuel odor at the exhaust tip. To confirm, I removed the #1 spark plug for a check and it's totally dry. There's no sign of fuel going into that engine but a test at the end of fuel rail test port still yields a squirt. Question: is it possible that my fuel pump can be still defective?
Is there a procedure to safely test the fuel pump?

The last thing is to verify if the injectors receive a signal but I don't know how to do that.

Like Shaughnessy wrote in the previous post, I've also noticed that the transmission arrow light is flashing. Never had that problem before. I carefully checked the battery connectors & cables, no sign of corrosion there. I recharged the battery just in case to be sure, no changes.

Get a T-25 and take the cover off the IAC and vacuum tree so you can access the
Schraeder valve on the fuel rail.

Try to start it and then press the valve and see if there's a healthy
spray comes out. If there's high pressure then try the relay swap Klaus suggested. If no pressure then the problem is no fuel and if you hear the fuel pump and there's no fuel at the rail, then you have a bad fuel pump (maybe the
motor works and the impeller isn't spinning) or there's a fault with the fuel line
or filter.

The diagnosis is a little tricky since a fuel pump can make noise and NOT pump.
You really need to confirm fuel pressure at the rail.

Two things:

After sitting for a very long time, I always turn the key to posII several times to ensure that there is fuel at the rail. The fuel line will drain to the tank after a very long time.

Please try swapping the FI relay on the radiator shroud with the other car.

Found it!

By your suggestions, I swapped the fuel system relay #8545803 with wife's car but it didn't worked. It's when I reinstalled my own relay back (because wife was bugging me to have her original relay back in her own car)that I've noticed a broken wire right at the connector terminal. I didn't noticed it at first glance probably because it was probably still holding by the vinyl sheath but it's definitely broken now and we can see the green-gray corrosion.

I disassembled the connector, solder an other piece of wire onto the contact terminal and the car started right away and running fine.

There is a "fuel injector relay" that may have failed. It sits in the top area of the radiator shroud. I assume no codes are stored.
