lost key replacement S70 1997

Looking for some direction. Long story short, college daughter loaned her/our only key to friend who was going to borrow car. Key is now lost and we need replacement. Do we have to buy from dealer? What should I be aware of in doing so? Any way to save on costs? TIA

    Your key does not have a 'chip' and the dealer should be able to make a new key for less than $20 using the VIN. Call the dealer and ask for the parts dept.
